10 Steps to Selecting a Custom Homebuilder

1. Verify the builder is licensed and bonded
2. Have the homebuilder provide references, make sure to contact past clients
3. How long has the builder been in business
4. Will the builder provide a sample contract
5. Ask if the builder has ever owned a construction company under a different name
6. Has the builder ever received any awards or recognition
7. Who will be your primary point of contact, and how will you be able to contact them
8. Ask if the builder will provide a complete estimate before a contract is signed
9. Tour completed home, or homes under construction and pay attention to the quality of work
